Short Poems

I read these at Prospero's Pit tonight, thanks for hosting, gentlemen!

********************
What I have
is mostly
a collection of trinkets

to remind me
of what I don't have

namely you

*******************
kissing you
is like drinking honey
from a bumblebee's ass

*******************
Fat full moon
hangs low in the sky
like my heart in my body
like my head in my lap

******************
Your platitudes are plentiful
as ketchup and mustard
and Mcdonalds

********************
a new one, shortest yet:

like is a letter long for lie

Trepidation

This painting took me by surprise. I always strive for the underlayers of a piece to have coherence, so as to build on a strong foundation, but this underpainting said "I'm done." I worked only a few hours on this, and then sat and stared for many hours. In the end I found myself unable to take a brush to it and called it complete.

sketchbook: RAWR

a collection of monsters and beauties ... here are some selections from my newest sketchbook.

river bed: another yarn contour

advancing the complexity of the yarn ... i developed this painting next. both of these were 'salvages.' That is taking a failed painting and rescuing it, something I rarely do, but in this case, I'm happy I didn't just throw them out.

detail: sorry it's at the wrong angle

Yarn Contours

So I was working this abstract and just completely unhappy with it, then I started to lay yarn across it, and yow-wow, I love the result. It adds dimension and texture to the piece while giving it lots of volume. Any suggestions on good glues to use would be very welcome. This is acrylic and yarn on canvas, 10" x 30".

Who Am I ...

...to blow against the wind?

This painting was inspired by the idea of capturing the feeling of total trust and total vulnerability at the same time. It is acrylic on canvas, 24" x 30".
